Today, once again, we did activities that require us to speak. Miss Zu wants us to do a forum like talk show programs such as 'Malaysia Hari Ini'. My group members for this forum are Syahirah, Wanie, Hefa and Megat. Hefa was the host and the rest were they panels. This is our Task:


A malaysian public not very concerned about cleanliness and good maintenance of public amenities. Discuss the problems how encourage and give awareness to the public on this issue.

Today's class was ended early because Miss Zu must attend the meeting. So, we looking at midterm test paper only. She taught us the technique how to answer the paper because the test is around the corner. She want to make sure that we really understand the form of questions. There have two section which are reading comprehension and writing. Reading comprehension consists of contextual clues, reference words and other questions. Then, writing section is about non-linear essay. The total marks of this paper is 20 marks.

We did another pop quiz today. The previous one we just answered non linear writing part but today the real past semester midterm test was given. We had given 1 hour 45 minutes to answer it. After finished, we all helped Miss Zu to mark reading comprehension section except Megat, Fadzli and Dinie because they had another class at 2pm.

That night, Izuan's group was presented another presentation on grammar. They presented about adjectives and conjuctions.






Adjective is a word that describe the noun 


Types of adjectives


Descriptive adjectives   add detail or description to the noun.
eg: Monica said, "Wow, this is a great game."

Comparatives adjectives  Used to compare two things or people
eg: Julian thinks his father is better cook than his mother
Superlatives adjectives Used to compare three or more people or things
eg: Salem select the biggest present.
Limiting adjectives  These types of adjectives specify or limit the noun.
eg: Will you pass me that key?
Possessives adjectives  This type of adjectives modifies a noun by attributing possession (or other sense of belonging) to someone or something. 
eg: The girl took off her glasses instead of the girl took off the girl's glasses.
Predicate adjectives  this is a special type of adjective that follows a linking verb and describe the noun of the sentence.
eg: The book  is big. 
*The predicate adjectives big is linked by the verb is to the noun book.

Today there have two session class. In the afternoon and at night.

Afternoon class
Just had a non linear essay pop quiz. I didn't have enough time. For me, the question was very tough ='=


Night class
We learned about facts and opinion. Let's me explain it.

A Fact
objective information that can be checked or proved to be true
information that does not change 
not a statement about the future
For example: Ako Mustapha is a actor.

A Opinion
is a statement that cannot be proved to be true or false
is one's personal belief, idea, or feeling about a subject
can be a statement about the future
For example: Ako Mustapha is most handsome actor in Malaysia.

Then, we were divided into five groups. My members group are Rahey, Nabilah, Jihan and Taufik. We need to present and promote about our group product by using 10 statements about facts and opinions. The product that we chose was perfume. Others group must guess how many facts and opinions that we use. My group was won. We extremely happy that night.

So you think, you can act !


Acting while singing? Woahh, sound like crazy for me ='= I never singing in front of the peoples. How can I do that today? Hmm,

Firstly, we divided into five groups. My group members are Aira, Hanis, Nina, Dinie and Megat. Miss Zu asked leader of each group to pick one article from her box. My group got articles about blood donation. Then, with 30 minutes we must think the storylines with suitable songs. We had decided to choose Lazy Song and Marry You by Bruno Mars. What the funny think was the lyrics of the songs were changed to make its suitable with that story. There have another song that my group members were singing but I forgot the title of the songs.

Thanks to Dinie :) I think he can be a director. He managed the storylines pretty well. He had many good ideas and other members as well. For me, although I did not like this activity but that day its make me happy. It also can make our confident level improved.
On my opinion, the best group was Pony's group. Next, the best actress was Pony while the best actor was Izuan.

Pronouns and Preposition

Finally, the scary day had come. My friends and I must present about Pronouns and Preposition in front of the class. I was pounding on that time =’=
Definition of Pronouns
Pronoun is the name to the noun. There are many types of pronoun such as:
Personal Pronouns
Reflexive Pronouns
Demonstrative Pronouns
Interrogative Pronouns
Relative Pronouns
Possessive Pronouns
Indefinite Pronouns


Definition of Preposition
A word that show relationship between noun or pronouns and other word in the sentences. There are three type of preposition.
Preposition of Place show you where something is.
Preposition of Time show you the concept of time and duration on time.
Preposition of Movement show you how something moves in relation to others things.



       Prepositions can be used with verbs and the combination is called phrasal verbs.
       Phrasal verbs carry totally different meanings and its depends on the prepositions used.
       Examples: look after, look into
    →She has to look after her younger sister since her parents have gone out.
    →The headmaster promised to look into discipline case.
       Preposition may be used at the end of wh-questions

On this day, we learned how to answered writing part in the exam BEL 260. It is about how non linear will change to linear text writing.


               Tips on how to do task 


Spend 5 minutes reading the graphs/charts etc.
Make sure you understand axes.
Make sure you follow lines on graph.
Focus on the key information.
If two graphs – compare.
Think about the time period – tenses.
Vary your vocabulary.
Organize information clearly.
       Write neatly


 Non linear writing's formula

TITLE
Firstly, extract the TITLE from the question and underline it
1) OV + CI
--->You may write in just 1 paragraph but 2 or 3 paragraphs are also accepted, generally it depends on what kind of stimuli are given. Begin each paragraph with phrases like:
       i) According to the...
ii) Based on the...
iii) With reference to...

2-3) KFs
-->For the second and/or third paragraphs, you need to identify the Key Features (KFs) which are the MOST OUTSTANDING ideas from the stimuli.
Notes: Do not make any external ASSUMPTIONS

4) P(i) + P(ii)
  -->For the closing, it consists of minimum two sentences, Prediction (Pi) and Proposal(Pi)


At the end of class, Miss Zu gave us task and we must present as a group on

Wednesday, 4th January 2012

Suddenly, my class was very awkward on that day because Miss Zu got very
angry with us. The reason why she became like that because we did not do a port
folio very well including me. She gave us time to changed it and next week she
want to check again. Actually, my group must present about the grammar
"Pronouns" and "Preposition" on that day but Miss Zu was totally forgot about it.
So, we changed it to present next week.


Now, back to the topic. On that day, Miss Zu was taught us about the topic sentences.
-->   A topic sentence (also known as a focus sentence) included or organises an entire paragraph, and you should be careful to include one in most of your major paragraphs. Although topic sentences may appear anywhere in a paragraph, in academic essays they often appear at the beginning.


Topic sentence suggests or states the the main idea:
lIn finding the main idea, ask yourself these:
What idea is common to most of the text?
What is the idea that relates the parts to the whole?
What opinion do all the parts support?


 :) Then, we played a game. We must watched a few video and make the topic sentences by a group. As usual, my group members are Aira, Hanis, and Niena. Although, the game had not finish yet but i think my group was did well.

Ohhhh my ! another night class. I do not know why when Thursday I always feel
very tired. Maybe because of the Kor on the day and class at night. Mostly, my
classmates always hungry when came to the class ;(
Today, is the day that we must present the task that Miss Zu had given. The task
was:

The length of this report should be 150 – 200 words.
Make sure to follow the formula.

My group did not present it very well. There are a few grammar mistakes that we did. So, Miss Zu told us to correct it and pass up the next day before 10pm. So, I will shows you the best group reports.

Elya's Group

Hours spent on activities by different age group in Someland

The table represents the hours spent on activities by different age group from teens to 70s and above in Someland. The hours spent on doing two out of all the activities shows a decreasing rate while the rest shows a fluctuating rate. (OV + CI)


The time spent on watching television slumped significantly at 30s, where it then rose at 40s+. Due to work commitments, no spare time is allocated for entertainments. (KF 1)
However, the time used on socialising with four or more people dropped by 93% with a constant rate along the age groups, as their responsibilities increases, lesser hours are spent on leisure. (KF 2)
Individual exercise shows the most inconsistent rate, from dropping by 50 at 20s to rising by 100 at 40s to falling by 150 at 50s, it then shot back up by 100 at 70s. Health issues based on old age might be the cause of the sudden boomed in hours. (KF 3)


The table indicates the reducing number of people doing group exercise from teens to 60s and above. The higher the age group the lesser the activities are carried out due to health restrictions. Government can alter this statistics by advertise the benefits of exercise through mass media. (Pi + Pii)

Hours spent on activities by different age groups in Someland

The table shows the hours spent on activities like watching television or video, socialising with four or less people, socialising with four or more people, doing individual exercise, doing group exercise or sport and watching movies in cinemas by different age groups from teens to 70s+ in Someland.

The activity of socialising with four or more people is decreasing from 350 for teens until 25 for 70s+.

For teens, watching television or video has the highest hours spent because they like to watch entertainment programmes. However, from age 20s to 30s the hours spent has decreased because they are too busy with their works, but climbing back from age 40s to 70s.

On the other hand, doing group exercise or sport decline from teens to 70s+. This is cause by the ageing process that occurs to human being that leads to the declination in joining outdoor activities.


Based on the table, we can conclude that when we become older, we will do less outdoor activities because our body become weak as we do not have enough energy to do more activity. Government should organize a campaign such as “10,000 steps a day” to encourage community to join other outdoor activities.
